'Elite Squad'
Box office numbers don't exactly reflect the current state of IFC, because the company, quite simply, doesn't rely on theatrical grosses: "We're in the day-and-date business," says IFC's topper Jonathan Sehring. "It's a huge new revenue stream."
Even with the company's emphasis on video-on-demand, it can still boast the respectable box office success of 2007 Cannes winner "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" ($1.2 million) and French pic "The Last Mistress" ($690,000).
In the last year, IFC has proved to be the most prolific player in arthouse distribution, picking up more than a half-dozen titles in Cannes and other key fests, and releasing two films every month.
