On Oct. 10, Scorsese will introduce Albert Lewin's 1951 James Mason-Ava Gardner romancer "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman," and filmmakers including "The Wrestler" helmer Darren Aronofsky and Wong Kar Wai will take part in the fest's annual series of interviews, the HBO Films Dialogues.
Other events will include an Oct. 6 screening of a new print of Josef von Sternberg's 1928 silent "The Last Command," accompanied by a new score performed live by the Alloy Orchestra. The New York Film Festival events will run Sept. 26-Oct. 12.

International cinema is coming to Astoria: the Museum of the Moving Image will present its first World Cinema Showcase, a series of foreign (and foreign-influenced) films skedded to start Sept. 12 and run Friday evenings through May 22.
The series will occasionally feature helmers in person, including Nina Davenport at the screening of her Iraq-shot docu "Operation Filmmaker," the first film in the series. So Yong Kim will be on hand to discuss his immigrant drama "In Between Days," slated for Jan. 23.
The lineup is comprised of influential international pics from the last three years -- Pedro Almodovar's Oscar-wining "Volver" will be included, as will Cristian Mungiu's Romanian drama "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days."
The screenings will be held at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center.
"The series gives audiences in Queens an opportunity to see some of the best new films from around the world," museum director Rochelle Slovin said.
