DeBoer, a former executive vice president of HBO, will chair Digital Rights Group America, acquiring rights from U.S. content creators and pitching U.K. shows in what the company regards as “a priority” market.
Jeremy Fox, CEO of DRG, said “(Lee’s appointment) marks the beginning of the group strategy of becoming a place where we’re not only providing hugely appealing programming for a global audience but also extending the service that we offer producers that we work with now and in the future.”
DeBoer was one of the main architects behind the expansion of HBO. During almost 20 years at the subscription channel, he was executive vice president, HBO, president, HBO International, and prexy of Time-Warner International Broadcasting.
DRG already reps several U.S. programs, including sketch show “State of the Union,” starring Tracey Ullman, and game show “Singing Bee.”
The outfit's constituent companies include C4i, Portman Film & Television, iD Distribution, Zeal Entertainment, Click TV and i-Rights.
