'Slumdog' to close London fest

Full Festival program to be announced Sept. 10

The European premiere of helmer Danny Boyle's Indian-set drama "Slumdog Millionaire" will close the London Film Festival on Oct. 30.

Pic follows an impoverished Indian streetkid (Dev Patel) who finds himself one question away from winning a fortune on India's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" TV show.

As previously announced, "Frost/Nixon" will open the London fest on Oct. 15.

Pathe will release "Slumdog Millionaire" in the U.K., with Pathe Intl. handling international sales. Fox Searchlight and Warner Bros. share North America.

The full London Film Festival program will be announced Sept. 10.
