In his new post, Bakal will be responsible for the financial management and operations of the company and its projects in development.
He joins Mandate from IBM Global Business Services, where he was a media and entertainment senior strategy consultant. He is also the co-founder of Strategic Film Partners, a film finance consulting firm that advises both film production studios and private equity funds on film investment strategies.
"One of Mandate's responsibilities is to help filmmakers not just realize their vision but also build a solid business model around their films," Mandate Pictures prexy Nathan Kahane said. "Matthew brings with him extensive experience and a great mind for business and finance."
Previously, Bakal was director of development and production for the Canton Co., where he worked with Kahane. While there, Bakal supervised development, production and post-production of "Get Carter," "Angel Eyes" and the WB TV series "Jack & Jill."
