"In 'Prisoner of Love' we follow three newly released prisoners who are looking for the love of a woman, someone who can provide stability in the home and a reason to stick to the straight and narrow," says Roy Aalderink, chief creative officer at Palm Plus, the company behind the series.
It will begin with the men's release and follow them as they reintegrate into society. Each will also be introduced to three women as potential life partners.
Revealing the reason the men were locked up will be a major plot point. Other key moments include meeting friends and family and narrowing the selection.
Finally, both men and women must decide whether to continue the relationship.
Casting, natch, will be crucial, says Aalderink.
"We are looking for ex-prisoners who really want to start a new life, and who really deserve that second chance. We don't want to work with rapists or killers. They should be people who made perhaps one or two mistakes in their lives, they were in prison for that and they want to start over."
This will help viewers sympathize with the men, and keep it ethical.
Palm says it's talking to several distribs who want to take global rights, and that broadcasters in the U.K., U.S., Germany and Scandinavia have expressed interest in local versions.
