'Lalola' finds home in Portugal

Dori Media sells series to TVI

BUENOS AIRES -- Dori Media Group has sold format rights for "Lalola" to Portuguese broadcaster TVI, expanding international sales of the Argentine comedy to more than 50 territories, it said on Tuesday.

Portuguese production house NBP, best known for soap operas, will produce the adapted version of "Lalola" for TVI. Both are units of Media Capital, which is owned by Spanish media giant Prisa.

Deal follows sales of the remake rights for the Argentine telenovelas "Sos mi vida" (You Are the One) and "El Refugio" (The Shelter) to TVI.

"Lalola" is a production of Israel-based Dori, which has a base in Buenos Aires.

The comedy, the brainchild of producer Sebastian Ortega of Underground Contenidos in Buenos Aires, aired to strong numbers on America TV in Argentina in 2007-08.

It is about a high-flying womanizer who must endure the abuse he once doled out after he is mysteriously turned into a woman. Sony Pictures Television has U.S. remake rights for the comedy.
