Spike has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of the series, which will premiere in February.
Weekly skein will be produced by Base Prods., with James and his production company, Payupsucker Prods., serving as exec producers. Project originates from a multiyear talent deal James signed with Spike last October.
"Dead Man" will feature James prepping himself and executing death-defying challenges, such as riding in the treacherous Baja 500 off-road race or speeding at more than 200 mph on a nitro-methane-charged motorcycle.
A notorious crafter of custom motorcycles, James starred from 2002-06 on the Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage," which was produced by Thom Beers ("Deadliest Catch," "Ice Road Truckers").
