'Break Out' dances into Union Square

New show is latest from 'Jump' creators

The Korean physical-theater team behind martial-arts show “Jump” will return to Off Broadway’s Union Square Theater this season with the extreme dance comedy spectacle “Break Out,” beginning performances Sept. 18 for a Sept. 23 opening.

Produced by Show and Arts and created by SevenSense, the high-energy, family-friendly danceathon follows a group of prisoners inspired by an ancient sacred text to plan their escape. Directed by Jun-beom Juen, it combines hip-hop, gymnastics, yoga and slapstick, performed by a cast of 10.

“Break Out,” which premiered in April 2007 in Seoul, has since played London, the Edinburgh Fringe and other international tour stops.
