Nordic film market proves popular

Norwegian event attracts 325 delegates

HAUGESUND — New Nordic Films, a market for productions from the region, opened its doors Thursday to a record number of participants, pics and projects.

Three-day showcase, which runs at the tail end of the Haugesund Film Festival in Norway, attracted 325 delegates, who will get the chance to see a record 23 pics as well as sneak peeks of 11 works in progress.

Event, which bows with the world preem of Erik Poppe’s drama "Troubled Water," includes Danish hit movie "Flame & Citron," which screens for the first time off home turf, and Eva Sorhaug’s dark dramedy "Cold Lunch," which opens the Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival.

The showcase also incorporates the two-day Co-production Forum, where the producers of 18 Nordic projects will be pitching to potential partners from within and outside the region.
