Pusan honors Lincoln Center's Pena

Program director to receive Cinema Award

Richard Pena, the program director of the Film Society of New York's Lincoln Center, will receive the Korean Cinema Award at the 13th Pusan Film Festival for his work in introducing Korean films to the global film industry.

Fes also announced that Gulnara Sarsenova has been tapped for the Asian filmmaker of the year honor.

At Lincoln Center since 1988, Pena is also director of the New York Film Festival.

In 2004 he organized an event unspooling 40 Korean films from the previous 60 years.

In March he held the first retrospective of the 10th anniversary of the death of Kim Ki-young, screening 12 of the director's works, including his masterpiece, "The Housemaid."

The Pusan fest runs Oct. 2-10.
