'Trash' hits Danish funny bone

Film opens to record figures

STOCKHOLM — Danish pic “Take the Trash” broke local records for a homegrown comedy when it opened last weekend.

Including Monday, pic pulled in an audience of 105,336, beating previous local comedy hits like “Italian for Beginners.”

Pic’s total box office for the first four days was $1,383,466, besting the perf of other pics in the charts, including “Star Wars — the Clone Wars” and “The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”

The $2 million budgeted pic, about a successful businessman who loses everything, was helmed by Rasmus Heide and produced by Ronnie Fridhtjof for Fridthjof Films, TV2 and Scanbox.

Fridhtjof is selling the film internationally.
