Xbox 360 outsells PS3 in Japan

Nintendo outsells both with its Wii console

TOKYO - Microsoft's Xbox 360 has outsold the Playstation 3 console for the first time in the Japanese market, game publisher Ascii Media Works has revealed.

According to an Ascii survey, Xbox 360 moved 28,116 units in the week ending August 10, compared with 10,705 for PS3. Both, however, were left in the dust by Nintendo, which sold 41,044 Wii consoles in the same period.

The boost for Xbox, which has long struggled in the Japanese market, came from fans of "Tales of Vesperia" a hit RPG developed by Bandai Namco

exclusively for Xbox 360. The title is skedded to launch in the US on August 26.
