Appointment comes as Andy Reif is leaving CGS after two years as the league's chief exec to pursue other interests.
It also comes shortly after CGS inked a broadcasting deal with G4 to air the league's vidgaming competitions. The four 90-minute specials began airing in July.
Hopkins will oversee the global development of the league, which has been looking to increase its presence in the U.S., especially on television.
