Eisendrath signs deal with Universal

'Enemy' man makes friends with studio

Writer-producer John Eisendrath has inked an overall deal with Universal Media Studios to serve as showrunner and exec producer of the Peacock's new drama series "My Own Worst Enemy."

The two-year, seven-figure pact covers Eisendrath's services on the Universal Media Studios series and on development. Eisendrath was already working on "Enemy" as a co-exec producer when Peacock brass asked the seasoned showrunner to take on an expanded role earlier this month. Series creator Jason Smilovic remains an exec producer and closely involved in the production.

"Enemy," which bows Oct. 13 in the Monday 10 p.m. slot, stars Christian Slater as a man living a double life as an efficiency expert and a covert agent.

Eisendrath created and exec produced the 2003 ESPN drama series "Playmakers," which generated some heat for the sports cabler from the NFL for its unvarnished depiction of NFL players on and off the gridiron. Other recent credits include Fox's "K-Ville" and ABC's "Alias."
