Horacio Urban has a 'Dream'

Spain-Poland co-production to screen at Pusan

BARCELONA — Horacio Urban's Madrid-based sales company Urban Films has taken international rights outside Spain on intimate drama "Amanecer de un sueño" (Awaking from a Dream), a Spain-Poland co-production.

"Dream" turns on Marcel, a young man abandoned by his mother at the age of eight who has been raised by his grandfather, Pascual.

When Marcel is planning to leave the family nest, Pascual begins to suffer from Alzheimers and is now the one who needs care and attention.

Helmed by first-timer Freddy Mas, who worked as Wolfang Becker's assistant director on "Good Bye, Lenin!", "Dream" toplines Argentine vet Hector Alterio ("A Bit of Chocolate," "The Son of the Bride"), and Spaniards Alberto Ferreiro ("Women in the Park," "Princesses") and Monica Lopez ("The Uncertain Guest," Intact").

Valencia-based TV and cinema production house Terra a la Vista teamed with Poland’s Follow Me Film Production in a pioneering co-production agreement to make the $1.8 million budgeted "Dream."

"Dream" competed at the 30th Moscow International Film Festival and will screen in the World Cinema sidebar at October’s Pusan Festival. It will also compete at the Warsaw Film Festival.
