Deadlines set for O’Neill conference

The Waterford, Conn., campus recently wrapped its annual summertime development program for plays and tuners.
The National Playwrights Conference -- which counts August Wilson, John Guare, Adam Rapp and Wendy Wasserstein on its list of alums -- will accept submissions postmarked Sept. 15-Oct. 17.
The National Music Theater Conference, which helped develop recent Tony winner “In the Heights,” will accept applications postmarked Sept. 1-Dec. 1.
Selected creatives will be allotted residencies during the 2009 sessions of the conferences.
Among the country’s higher-profile legit development programs, the O’Neill conferences are among the very few that accept open submissions, with no agent or other professional representation required.
