"Mogulettes," which Sykes is penning with scribe Amy Harris ("The Comeback"), will center on jet-setting twentysomething women who have already become captains of industry. Show revolves around Eva, the beautiful and brilliant leader of a cosmetics empire.
Project’s the second for the Peacock under Corwin’s Original Media banner, which has a first-look scripted series deal at NBC Entertainment. Universal Media Studios is attached to produce.
The idea for "Mogulettes" came from Sykes; the project was brought to Original by Caliber Media, which will be a producer as well.
"I think Plum has a unique insight into social dynamics in a way that she’s able to find these characters that are at once sympathetic and aspirational," Corwin said.
Original is producing "The Philanthropist" for NBC, which will debut that series early next year. Endemol USA acquired Original last fall.
Sykes’ other credits include the novel "The Debutante Divorcee." In TV, she previously developed a version of "Bergdorf Blondes" for the WB, but the netlet eventually passed on that project.
