Springsteen set for Super Bowl?

NFL keeping mum on the subject

Tabloid reports claim that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have been confirmed as the halftime entertainment for Super Bowl XLIII, Feb. 1 in Tampa, Fla.

The NFL, however, is keeping mum ... sort of. "We don't talk about our talent discussions," said league spokesman Brian McCarthy, who nevertheless added: "We don't have any talent confirmed for the Super Bowl."

Thus far, requests for comment from the Boss' reps have gone unanswered.

If true, Springsteen and Co. would follow in the 50-yardline footsteps of classic rockers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones, who've taken the stage during the gridiron gala in recent years.
