She replaces Terry Mackin who abruptly ankled last week after just five months on the job.
With Univision since 1991, Lynch most recently served as senior VP and general manager of Univision's leading Spanish-language cable network, Galavision. She will be based in New York and report to Ray Rodriguez, president and chief operating officer of Univision Communications.
Sebastian Trujillo, senior VP and operating manager of Galavision, will take over for Lynch's and report directly to Rodriguez.
Univision had poached Mackin from Hearst-Argyle Television where he had managed the station group's Web and DTV initiatives.
U.S. Hispanic media giant posted a wider second-quarter loss Friday, mainly attributed to an advertising slump. The net loss widened to $100.7 million from $19.6 million in 2007. Univision reported revenue dips in each major segment of TV, radio and online.
Univision went private last year in a $12.3 billion buyout by Madison Dearborn Partners, Providence Equity Partners, TPG, Thomas H. Lee Partners and media mogul Haim Saban.
