But it's certainly given older Bat-fans an excuse to buy action figures, especially high-end collectibles. Items like the $90 DC Direct Joker figure have been flying off shelves since the pic's debut.
A Warner Consumer Products spokesman calls the collectibles a "halo line." They're not nearly as lucrative as regular toy figures but worth producing if even a few collectors buy them at their higher price points.
Some $5 billion of last year's $22.5 billion in total toy purchases came from buyers over 13 years old — mostly men in their late teens, 20s and 30s.
