Bahman Naraghi joins GK Films

Ex-Netflix exec will oversee financial matters

Netflix exec Bahman Naraghi has been tapped chief operating officer of Graham King's production company GK Films.

In the newly created post, Naraghi will oversee financial matters and help the company spearhead the overall distribution strategy domestically and internationally. He will be based out of GK Films' Santa Monica offices and report to King.

At Netflix, Naraghi headed the company's push into the acquisition and distribution of original content, including the development and operation of Red Envelope Entertainment. He also recently set up the financing and distribution arrangements for the next installment of "The Terminator" franchise, "Terminator Salvation," on which he is an exec producer.

Before Netflix, Naraghi was chief operating officer of Intermedia Films for three years overseeing all of the company's business operations and financial activities. He also was executive VP of finance and operations at Miramax and executive VP and chief financial officer at Universal Pictures. He started his career in the entertainment business in 1990 supervising the rebuilding of MGM, on behalf of French bank Credit Lyonnais, where he headed up the media and entertainment group.

GK Films' credits include "The Departed" and "Blood Diamond." The Warner Bros.-based banner, which was launched last year, is in post-production on the Emily Blunt starrer "The Young Victoria" and will start shooting "Edge of Darkness" later this month.
