Fox on top with 'Dance'

Final performance episode wins Wednesday

Fox dominated Wednesday in key demo categories behind the final performance episode of "So You Think You Can Dance." The season finale of the hit series is set for tonight.

According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, "So You Think You Can Dance" averaged a 3.0 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 8.7 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m., rising 31% in the demo from its first half-hour to its last (2.6 to 3.4). Earlier this week, the competition series was renewed for a fifth season.

It was a quiet night elsewhere for the broadcasters, with a repeat of CBS drama "Criminal Minds" setting the pace (2.0/6 in 18-49, 9.0 million viewers overall). The Eye continues to do modest numbers with 8 o'clock unscripted competition "Greatest American Dog" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall).

ABC went with repeats of "Wife Swap" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) and "Supernanny" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) leading into news special "Primetime: Inside Out" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall).

NBC did little with its "Baby Borrowers" town hall-style meeting at 9 o'clock (1.2/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 3.0/10; CBS, 1.7/5; Univision, 1.6/5; ABC, 1.4/5; NBC, 1.2/4; CW, 0.4/1.

In total viewers: Fox, 8.7 million; CBS, 7.3 million; ABC, 4.6 million; NBC, 4.5 million; Univision, 3.8 million; CW, 1.0 million.
