Sound mixer Ted Hall dies at 48

Hall was a senior mixer at Santa Monica-based POP Sound, working on audio remixing and editing of feature films, television series and shows, musicvideos and albums for about 20 years. He also worked extensively on re-conforming, editing and mixing of theatrical films and DVDs for foreign releases as well as audio restoration in multichannel music mixing.
Pasadena, Calif. native graduated from Occidental College with a B.A. in music in 1982. He began his career touring and playing with a variety of bands, most notably the Fents, 1980-1990. He began his career in audio post-production with award-winning sound mixer Bruce Botnick at Digital Magnetics, a CD mastering and editing facility.
He joined POP in 1992 under the direction of Botnick.
Hall has been credited on numerous Grammy-winning projects including 5.1 remix for Alanis Morrisette's "Jagged Little Pill"; numerous theatrical and DVD projects such as ones with Linkin Park, Sting, U2 and others.
He is survived by his wife Tina and their son Chester.
A memorial/celebration of his life will be held at POP Sound on 4:30 p.m. Friday at 625 Arizona Ave., Santa Monica.
