Scheduled to launch in the fall, "Shaken Not Stirred" will star comedians D.L. Hughley and Paul Rodriguez, as well as actors Anthony Anderson and John Salley, offering verbal barbs to roastees that include Bobby Brown, Rev. Al Sharpton, Ice T and Pamela Anderson.
On the cable side, Comedy Central has been offering up its annual roast for many years; it will air its latest edition on Aug. 17, with Bob Saget in the hot seat. Because of broadcast restrictions, MyNet will, of course, have to tone down the language compared to its cable counterpart.
"Shaken," produced by Latham Entertainment ("The Original Kings of Comedy"), is taping at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.
Back in the 1970s and early '80s, NBC aired "The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts," which were ratings winners. Folks such as Foster Brooks and Don Rickles would skewer heavyweight entertainers that ranged from Frank Sinatra to Mr. T.
