Nick Pustay has been tapped to adapt.
The dark comedy — set in a dystopic future replete with a gang of blowtorchers, mutant grasshoppers and an underground suicide cult — centers on 14-year-old Edie Stein, who competes in a beauty pageant to please her mother.
Segal is a manager at Media Talent Group. He raised independent development funds out of China to develop "Just Like Beauty."
Segal is also producing a bigscreen adaptation of Michael Hornburg’s novel "Downers Grove." Bret Easton Ellis has been tapped write. That project is out to directors.
Pustay wrote the James Franco-Sienna Miller starrer "Camille."
