Real Image sees funds from Nomura

Japanese bank invests in Indian digital cinema co.

HONG KONG -- Japanese bank Nomura has invested $16 million in Indian digital cinema pioneer Real Image Media Technologies, parent of North America's Qube Cinema.

Nomura says the investment will help Real Image strengthen its position in D-cinema. "Real is the only Indian company that has developed a digital cinema product that follows the requirements of Digital Cinema Initiative," the Hollywood-backed industry standards organization said in a statement.

"This funding will help Real Image accelerate the growth it is seeking in India and other markets across the globe," Real Image co-founder Jayendra Panchapakesan said.
