BUENOS AIRES -- Argentine pubcaster Canal 7 topper Rosario Lufrano ankled Thursday after a government shakeup.

A journalist, Lufrano took the executive director job in 2006, expanding the culture-skewed broadcaster to smaller markets and stepping up its offering of pro-soccer and fiction.

Its lowly rated but critically applauded series "Cuentos de Fontanarrosa" (Stories of Fontanarrosa) and "200 anos" (200 Years) scooped kudos at this year's Martin Fierro awards.

The exec took the job with the backing of Cabinet Chief Alberto Fernandez, who quit Wednesday, after Congress overturned the farm tax bill last week. He was a key supporter of higher taxes, which sparked a four-month farm rebellion and caused the eight-month-old government's popularity to tank.
