'Robot' appointed goodwill delegate

First time UN org picks a toon to represent it

Korea's animated character "Robot Taekwon V" has been appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as Korea's goodwill envoy.

It is the first time the org has picked a toon character to represent it.

The robot, known as Voltar the Invincible in the U.S., will be used to publicize the plight of refugees around the world for a year. 

"Robot Taekwon V" is being developed into a live-action film by Shin Cine with Hollywood producer William Teitler attached as a consultant. Shin Cine prexy Shin Chule will receive the UNHCR certificate at the Puchon Intl. Fantastic Film Festival on Thursday.
