FCC slates Mark Cuban for panel
Web pioneer to discuss 'future of digital media'

The hearing, skedded for 4:00 p.m. Monday at Carnegie Mellon U. in Pittsburg, will consist of two panels. Cuban will be part of the first, which will address "the future of digital media," according to the FCC.
Also appearing as an expert on the panel will be David Eun, Google's veep for content partnerships, the agency announced Friday.
Cuban owns the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and the cable TV channel HDNet, among other entities. But he is known for his pioneering online strategies.
In 2005, Cuban inked a groundbreaking day-date deal with helmer Steven Soderbergh to make six movies Cuban would finance and then release in his Landmark theater chain simultaneously with broadcast over HDNet. DVD release would follow within days. "Bubble," the first of those films, was released as such in January 2006.
The hearing's second panel will address "the broadband of tomorrow," the FCC announced.
