Lego games stay hot in June

LucasArts' "Lego Indiana Jones" sold 1.1 million units domestically in its first several weeks, according to the NPD Group, making it the top-selling title of the month. That continues the hot streak the vidgame publisher has had with two previous "Lego Star Wars" games. Warner Bros., which last year acquired Traveller's Tales, developer of all the Lego games, is publishing "Lego Batman" this fall.
The month's other big game was Konami's "Metal Gear Solid 4." Latest installment in the gamer fave franchise sold nearly 1 million units and helped boost Sony's PlayStation 3, for which it is exclusively available, to its best nonholiday month ever. Conglom sold 406,000 PS3 units and continued its solid sales growth so far this year.
Nintendo's Wii remained in the monthly sales lead, selling 667,000 units in June. That pushed it to a total of 10.9 million units since launch and finally gave it the top spot in the current generation of consoles, even though it debuted a year after previous No. 1 Xbox 360. Microsoft's console was in third place, as it has been for most of this year, with 220,000 units sold. Its total sales to date are more than 10.5 million, while the PS3 is still far behind at 5 million.
New June games that didn't sell well enough to make NPD's top 10 included Vivendi's "The Bourne Conspiracy," Sega's movie adaptation "The Incredible Hulk" and Activision's licensed toon gamer "Kung Fu Panda."
