'Galileo' to air in Norway, Sweden

ProSiebenSat.1 sells science show format

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- European broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 continues to synergize with the SBS channels it acquired last year by launching one of its most successful science formats in Norway and Sweden.

The group's TVNorge in Norway and Kanal 9 in Sweden will begin airing local versions of "Galileo," one of the most popular magazine shows on the group's ProSieben channel in Germany.

Separate adaptations of "Galileo," each with its own host, will air weekly on primetime on the stations, Fridays on TVNorge and Tuesdays on Kanal 9.

In Germany, the show has been on air for more than a decade and has become a daily staple format on ProSieben, where it regularly achieves above-average market shares, according to Jens Richter, managing director of ProSiebenSat.1's sales arm SevenOne Intl.

Versions of "Galileo" also air in Denmark, Poland, Russia, Belgium, the Czech Republic and China.
