Thompson was formerly senior VP of worldwide acquisitions at Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. She will responsible for assessing and acquiring projects for all the territories that Entertainment One operates in, including Canada, the U.K., Holland, Belgium and U.S. homevideo. She will be based in Los Angeles and report to Patrice Theroux, president of the filmed entertainment division at Entertainment One.
Prior to working at Sony Pictures, Thompson was responsible for all the Euro acquisitions activity for U.K. distrib Momentum Pictures. Thompson has also done a stint at Working Title Films, where she was involved in the pics "The Big Lebowski," "Elizabeth," "Notting Hill" and "Bridget Jones's Diary."
Entertainment One announced last week that it had bought three Canuck TV companies -- producers Barna-Alper Prods. and Blueprint Entertainment and its distributor Oasis Intl. -- and the film distributor Maximum Films.
