Larry King booked by Weinstein

Books co. to publish TV host's autobiography

Larry King will tell all, again: Weinstein Books will publish the oft-chronicled 74-year-old interviewer's autobiography "What Am I Doing Here?" on Father's Day 2009. The book, which will distributed by Hachette, will be written with assistance from Esquire writer Cal Fussman.

King spoke highly of the pub and said that his "life story could not be in better hands."

Born Lawrence Harvey Zeiger in 1933, King grew up in Brooklyn during the Depression and started his life in the media in Miami at the then-small radio station WIOD, where he landed his first celebrity interview with Bobby Darin. King had a three-year stint off the air in the 1970's during a protracted series of legal battles with financier Louis Wolfson, but he returned to radio and, in 1978, went national on the Mutual Radio Network with "Open Phone America."

In June 1985, CNN's "Larry King Live" aired for the first time and is now the longest-running show in its time slot in the history of the medium. King regularly appears as himself in movies, and has also written "Larry King," "Tell It to the King," and "Tell Me More," among other books.
