Beastie Boy Adam Yauch's distrib company Oscilloscope Pictures has acquired "Frontrunners," a political docu set in Gotham's Stuyvesant High School.
Pic will bow at the Film Forum on Oct. 15, three weeks before a national theatrical release tied to the presidential election.
An official selection at South by Southwest , the pic chronicles the race for president at a high-caliber public high school where about 3% of the 25,000 annual applicants are admitted. The film draws parallels between the political apathy and alienation of the Upper East Side school's student body and that of the U.S. electorate.
Pic is the debut feature outing for director Caroline Suh, who has produced docus for the History Channel and PBS.
Oscilloscope, which recently opened the Yauch-helmed basketball doc "Gunnin' for the No. 1 Spot," will release a DVD of "Frontrunners" in early 2009.
