TOKYO -- The Fuji TV network launched a new free service for cell phone users on Tuesday, beaming video content related to new Fuji dramas currently
on the air.
The service, with commercials attached, is free the first week, but viewers are charged a fee starting the second. By offering the free content, Fuji
hopes to expand its subscriber base for its pay service.
The first drama to be featured is "Shiratora," which relates the trials and tribulations of a fresh-faced new cop on the youth crime beat. The "Shiratora" video is 90 seconds long and provides inside info about the drama's characters. The content will be updated weekly, in line with the drama broadcasts.
