Hands becomes nonexecutive chairman of EMI, having completed the company's organizational restructuring. Like Hands, whose Terra Firma purchased the music company last year, Leoni-Sceti has no music-industry experience.
For the past 16 years, Leoni-Sceti, 42, has worked for Reckitt Benckiser, a global producer of food, pharmaceutical and cleaning products. He is credited with helping the company strengthen its innovation and global branding. Over the past two years, as the company's topper for Europe, he helped accelerate its growth throughout the continent.
EMI is hoping Leoni-Sceti can perform a similar feat at its record company, which has struggled with falling CD sales and slower-than-expected take-up in online and digital music sales.
