Steven Gaydos gets Karlovy honor

For the past 11 years, Gaydos has contributed to the fest program as a moderator for numerous panel discussions. He also introduced the Variety Critic's Choice segment, which highlights the work of up-and-coming European filmmakers.
The award will be conferred during the fest's opening night Friday.
Also, in addition to the previously announced honor for Robert De Niro, the festival will bestow a special award upon Danny Glover.
Randy Quaid will present screenings of "The Last Detail" in the second edition of the fest's New Hollywood section, while helmer Phyllida Lloyd will attend the screening of her "Mamma Mia!" which closes the fest July 12.
Russian filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov will introduce his film, "12," a Chechnya-set adaptation of the Reginald Rose-penned 1950s jury drama "12 Angry Men."
