The conservative talkshow host has signed a multiyear deal with Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks through 2016. Specifics of the pact were not disclosed, but reports estimated the value of the contract at as much as $400 million.
Deal covers his daily “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” which is broadcast on more than 600 stations. In addition, he’ll continue his 90-second weekday commentary segs, “The Rush Limbaugh Morning Update,” plus a monthly newsletter.
Next month Limbaugh will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his radio show, which is heard by some 20 million listeners, making it the highest-rated talkshow in the country.
“This is exactly where I want to be, doing what I was born to do, with phenomenal support from affiliate stations and sponsors,” Limbaugh said.
In 2004, Howard Stern signed a $100 million contract for five years when he moved to Sirius Satellite Radio, but that money also went to pay for staff and production costs.
Other top talkshow hosts on Premiere’s airwaves include Jim Rome, Ryan Seacrest and Glenn Beck.
