Generally characterized as drama-free, the labor talks between producers and actors have been ongoing since mid-April. The current contract between the two orgs expired June 29.
"The talks remain productive and both parties are confident a fair and equitable contract will be reached," the two sides said in a joint statement.
Largely amicable atmosphere makes for a strong contrast from the most recent round of legit labor talks. Last fall, contentious negotiations between producers and stagehands broke down and resulted in a 19-day strike that darkened the majority of Broadway shows during one of its most profitable holiday periods.
Although Equity's contract with the League has officially expired, all productions remain skedded to continue.
The talks look to be approaching resolution, although no exact timeline for the striking of a new bargain has been offered.
