Theatrical producer Daryl Roth has teamed with feature producer Richard Gladstein and his FilmColony on an adaptation of the upcoming Elizabeth Kelly novel "Apologize, Apologize." Kelly will make her screenwriting debut on the film.

Roth acquired the rights and brought it to FilmColony. Roth and Gladstein will produce, and Neil Parris will be exec producer. The producers will self-finance development of the script.

Novel, to be published in March by the Hachette Book Group imprint Twelve, focuses on a young man who comes of age on Martha's Vineyard and tries to make sense of his wildly wealthy, eccentric family.

Roth is making her first foray into films after producing six Pulitzer Prize-winning plays: "August: Osage County," "Anna in the Tropics," "Proof," "Wit," "How I Learned to Drive" and "Three Tall Women."

Gladstein is separately developing an adaptation of the 1968 Tom Wolfe book "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test," with Gus Van Sant attached to direct.
