Wim Wenders to head Venice jury

Coens' 'Burn After Reading' to open festival

Wim Wenders will head the main jury of the 65th Venice Film Festival.

Wenders, 63, has longstanding ties with the Lido, where his first feature, “The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick,” unspooled in 1972.

Wenders, who won the Venice Golden Lion 10 years later for “The State of Things,” was most recently at the Lido with “Land of Plenty” in 2004.

The Coen brothers spy comedy “Burn After Reading” will open the fest, which runs Aug. 27-Sept. 6.

The Venice lineup will be announced July 29.
