Overture enrolls in 'Parent Class'

Film company buys pitch from writing duo

Overture Films has decided to enroll in "Parent Class," buying a pitch from the scripting team of Toni Kotite and Marty Scott in a preemptive deal and setting it up with James Gibb.

Story's centered on a divorced couple who can't agree on how to raise their son and are ordered to attend a parenting class.

Kotite and Scott wrote "Briggs Ballet" for New Line and Mandeville and "Soccer Mom" for New Line. They also sold a pilot last year to ABC Studios and Lifetime.

Overture began operations a year and half ago as an arm of Starz Media with plans to release up to a dozen films per year. Its first two releases were "Mad Money" and "The Visitor."
