Fox tears into Matt O'Neil's 'Rip X'

Action pitch is in vein of 'Fast and the Furious'

In a mid-six-figure deal, 20th Century Fox has acquired action pitch "Rip X," with Matt O'Neil to pen the script.

Vertigo Entertainment's Doug Davison and Roy Lee will produce. Gabriel Mason, who developed the pitch with O'Neil, will be exec producer.

Pitch is in the vein of "The Fast and the Furious."

O'Neil is rewriting "Homecourt Advantage" for Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver. His script "Bull Rush" is being developed at Newmarket Films.

Vertigo just produced "The Strangers." Up next is "Quarantine," which Screen Gems releases Oct. 17.
