The thesp, who most recently starred as poet Dylan Thomas alongside Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller in "The Edge of Love," will be joined by Nia Roberts ("Cashback") for the Welsh- and Spanish-language road movie.
Pic is about a thirty-something Welsh couple who travel to Argentina to reassess their relationship amid the Welsh settlements of Patagonia. Meanwhile, an elderly woman travels in the opposite direction, accompanied by a young, reluctant companion.
Rebekah Gilbertson ("The Edge of Love") is producing alongside Oscar Kramer ("Carandiru").
Laurence Coriat ("A Mighty Heart") penned the script.
Project is co-produced by Cardiff-based banner Boomerang as part of their Boom Films initiative set up with Welsh web S4C.
The Film Agency for Wales, Boom Films, S4C and Kramer & Sigman Films are providing the coin.
The Little Film Company is handling sales.
Lensing will begin in Argentina early next year.
