Deauville gives itself a Bouquet

MADRID — Adding an appropriate mix of glamour and professional cred to the Deauville American Film Festival, Gallic actress Carole Bouquet has been named president of this year’s main Jury of Feature Films.

Debuting at a very young age in Luis Buñuel’s last film, 1977’s “That Obscure Object of Desire,” Bouquet’s curriculum has varied widely from a Bond girl turn opposite Roger Moore (John Glen’s “For Your Eyes Only,” 1981), to roles for star auteurs (Francis Ford Coppola’s “New York Stories,” 1989; Claude Berri’s “Lucie Aubrac,” 1996) to chic Paris romcoms (Anne-Marie Etienne’s “Perfect Match?” in 2006) and a best actress Cesar (Bertrand Blier’s “Too Beautiful For You,” 1989).

The 34th Deauville Fest, a star-powered but wide-ranging celebration of American cinema, takes place Sept.5-14 in the Normandy bathing resort, two hours down the road from Paris.
