Rosi, Pasolini films join Narni lineup

Italian festival unveils restored classics

ROME — Recently restored first and second works by celebrated Italo helmers Francesco Rosi, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Marco Bellocchio, Ermanno Olmi and Nanni Moretti will unspool outdoors in the ancient Umbrian hamlet of Narni for the 14th edition of the Le Vie Del Cinema restored cinema showcase.

Rosi, winner of this year’s Berlin Film Festival’s Golden Bear for lifetime achievement, will be on hand to present a digitally refurbished print of his 1959 immigration drama “I Magliari.”

A fresh copy of Nanni Moretti’s 1976 debut “Io Sono Un Autarchico” (“I Am Self Sufficient”), in Super-8, will be among other highlights, along with a revived print of Bellocchio’s feature bow “I Pugni in Tasca” (“Fist in his Pocket”), for which star Paola Pitagora will be on hand.

The established fest headed by Italo critic Alberto Crespi and attended by throngs of Italo film buffs will run July 4-13.
