A permanent replacement for former moderator Tim Russert, who died suddenly last week of a heart attack, has yet to be decided on. It's not even clear at this point whether Williams will guest host beyond Sunday.
NBC officials have been quoted in various news reports saying they're a long way from figuring out how to replace Russert, who filled multiple roles -- "MTP" moderator, D.C. bureau chief, political analyst and commentator on almost all NBC News platforms.
