Arts Alliance signs Yelmo pact

Madrid multiplex gets digital screens

LONDON — London-based digital cinema company Arts Alliance Media has taken its first steps into the Spanish exhibition market.

AAM has inked a deal with Spanish exhib Yelmo Cines and local equipment installer Suministros Kelonik to outfit Yelmo’s new five-screen Madrid multiplex, which opens in July with digital cinema projection systems. Yelmo operates 251 screens in 31 sites.

Digital cinema has not yet caught on in Spain, where there are just 34 digital screens in total.

“This is the very beginning of the digitization of our screens, and we want to start working in a digital environment to learn about the advantages and the challenges that this new technology will bring to our theaters,” said Fernando Evole, CEO, Yelmo Cines.

“We hope this will be the first step of a more extended collaboration with Yelmo Cines in the future,” said Gwendal Auffret, senior VP, digital cinema, AAM.

Leading European d-cinema outfit AAM has installed 326 screens to date.
