'Munich' actor named festival's ambassador

SYDNEY -- The Melbourne Intl. Film Festival has named Eric Bana its fest ambassador, a newly-created promo role that will support the fest's patron Geoffrey Rush.

Both stars have selected favorite films to present to an aud at the fest, which runs July 25-Aug 10. Bana has selected George Miller's "The Road Warrior," while Rush will present Oz '70s classic "The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith" helmed by Fred Schepisi.

"MIFF is in a great position to help showcase, and stimulate, local productions and filmmakers, it is an honor to be invited on board," Bana said.
